Letter: Greed weakens valley’s Spirit
September 9, 2014
To the Editor:
I remember. Once upon a time there was a Great Spirit that dwelled in our valley. In my day the Spirit was happy and strong. At any given time you could commune with this wondrous Spirit by cruising through the deep snow in the trees, while backpacking, or just by looking at the majestic mountains or pristine landscapes it offered.
Now the Spirit is sad and weak. With the influx of corporations, developers, and the mighty foe greed, the Great Spirit fell into despair and ruin. In my day we would have rallied to save the Great Spirit from harm, but the "powers that be" have grown strong with their laws, water rights and money.
Yes, I will remember the Great Spirit and the amazing honor to have experienced it. Peace.
