Letter: Kilgas, Count on me as a Yes on 1B

Count on me as a Yes on 1B

For 16 years, I observed and participated in the intricate workings of the Grand County Library District (GCLD). I was always inspired and thankful for the level of commitment, synergy, and diligent care given to the mission of the Library by staff and trustees, both present and former. With November 8 approaching, I decided to analyze the value of GCLD in my life and found that my GCLD library card offers me enormous bang for my $58.88, which was the portion of my property tax bill that went to the Grand County Library District. Here are a few of the many library services I have used this month for my $4.91: Outside Magazine delivered to my tablet via the Zinio app (savings $5.99/month), a seemingly endless supply of NOLO guides for small businesses delivered to the Granby Library for me to pick up (savings of $34.99 and $39.99 for the ones I have checked out now), James Patterson’s Cross Justice: Alex Cross 23 audiobook (savings $11.70), Become a Data Scientist online course using Lynda.com (savings of $29.99/month), Wi-Fi (savings from pulling my hair out at home with my 1.5 Mbps DSL), pleasant spaces to work at any GCLD library (savings from having to clean up my overrun home office), helpful, knowledgeable staff willing to assist me (priceless). I am proud to have played a part in this ambitious, relevant, and trustworthy organization that serves the residents and visitors of Grand County. From my perspective, GCLD is worth every penny it is asking voters to approve. GCLD, you can count on me as an unequivocal Yes on 1B.
