Letter: Nolan, The disregard for citizen input by GCLD is appalling,
The disregard for citizen input by GCLD is appalling,
I was dismayed by the June 21 meeting of the Grand County Library Board of Trustees in which they completely ignored public input regarding their plan to close the Hot Sulphur Springs library. At their May meeting they heard impassioned pleas from Hot Sulphur Springs citizens to keep our library open. In addition, the trustees received many letters, saw letters published in the newspapers and there were parade demonstrations all imploring them to consider alternatives for dealing with their budget issue that do not involve closing the Hot Sulphur Springs library. In spite of these efforts to get the trustees’ attention, they barely mentioned this concern in the June meeting and continued on with their plan of closing our library without considering any other alternatives. I thought the overwhelming concern raised by town citizens would have called for a robust discussion among the trustees. But there was nothing. This disregard for citizen input is appalling.
