Letter of thanks: Grand Foundation
To the Editor:
On Saturday, Nov. 16, Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa hosted the 11th Annual Wine Dinner to benefit Grand Foundation and the nonprofit community of Grand County. A full house helped raise over $50,000 for Grand County charities.
Guests were treated to a delicious five-course meal prepared by Executive Chef Evan Treadwell, which complimented wines from Spires Collection of Majestic Wines. Special guest Stephen Gonda from Spires gave an amazing description of each wine and the region of Napa Valley where the different varietals are grown.
During the event guests were abuzz over Karen Vance announcing the winner of her “A Grand View” painting. Karen has been selling tickets over the last two years. Ticket-holders had the chance to win a large original oil painting, which she donated to the Grand Foundation to help raise funds for the organization. Her gift alone raised over $40,000. Dave and Jeanne Kafer of Grand Lake were the lucky winners.
Thank you Karen for your amazing gift to Grand County.
After dinner Megan Ledin, Executive Director of Grand Foundation presented Bob and Suzanne Fanch with a handmade scrapbook, which gave an individualized account of the amazing support the Sprout Foundation has provided to the nonprofit organizations in Grand County. Their support is unwavering and their partnership to assist our community is unparalleled. Thank you to our event sponsors and donors: Devil’s Thumb Ranch, Republic National Distributing, Spires Collection of Majestic Wines, Karen Vance, Christine Orlikowski, Quang Ho, Debbie Kerr and Trice Jewelers.
The staff at Devil’s Thumb Ranch House Restaurant earns special mention for their exceptional service.
As a community-based nonprofit, the Grand Foundation relies on public support and events such as the Devil’s Thumb Ranch Wine Dinner to generate funding. This event showcases the true spirit of community involvement — a small group of people coming together to raise awareness and funds for local nonprofit organizations. We would like to thank each individual who attended this year’s event, your support truly does make a difference in the lives of those who live, work and play in Grand County.
