Letter of thanks: Taking Steps to End All Cancer event

To The Editor:

Cancer continues to affect our families, friends and neighbors. On Sept. 29, “Taking Steps To End All Cancer” Race/Walk was attended by hundreds who walked or ran for those with cancer needs in Grand County. Thank tou Janet LaBrake for starting our race even though you lost your sister, Susan Hardy, to cancer just weeks ago and to Josh for sharing thoughts about your mom. Thanks to all the businesses and individuals county-wide, digging deep for donations of money/live and silent auction items; registrants who turned the day pink; volunteers who worked without recognition for unending hours; visitors posing in the “Grand Chair” with pictures and stories to take home of our wonderful Grand County; and all of the residents of Grand County coming together to help each other. It was a wonderful, successful event to fund Grand County Rural Health Network, cancer-related Services. We look forward to 2014 and the possibilities of bringing many more helpful services to Grand County for those with any kind of cancer. Would you like to help, or do you need help? Send inquiries/ donations/requests for help to: Grand County Rural Health Network, P.O. Box 95, 416 Byers Avenue, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO 80451. Phone: 970-725-3477. Email: sryman@co.grand.co.us.
