Letter: Re-elect Rod Johnson for sheriff
To the Editor:
It is my privilege to write in support of Rod Johnson for re-election as Grand County Sheriff. As the District Attorney for this area, I have worked closely with Sheriff Johnson as our offices have shared responsibility for hundreds of criminal prosecutions.
From our work together, I know Sheriff Johnson to be a skilled and principled leader of both his agency and amongst law enforcement leaders in the state. Sheriff Johnson has been a critical interagency partner in Grand County’s most challenging cases— at times he has provided critical resources; at times he has provided sage advice drawn from his long law enforcement experience; but more often he has provided both.
These experiences lead me to conclude that Sheriff Johnson is one of the most knowledgeable law enforcement professionals I have worked with in my 28 years in this business. From his three decades of service to Grand county starting as a patrol deputy and then as his agency’s elected leader, he has an intimate understanding and appreciation of this community, its people and their public safety concerns.
I would conclude by saying that Sheriff Johnson is a selfless public servant of impeccable integrity, and I urge Grand County residents to re-elect him as their Sheriff.
Brett D. Barkey
District Attorney, 14th Judicial District
