Letter: Recognizing a good Samaritan

To the Editor:

I am somewhat disabled due to balance issues. On Thursday, Aug. 6, my grandchildren and I were walking back to Meadowridge after treating the kids to a Rocky Mountain breakfast at Sharkey’s. While attempting to cross Highway 40 at the Safeway intersection, I lost my balance and fell.

After a biker helped me to the side of the road, I was attempting to determine the damage. It appeared that I may have broken my hand along with various scratches. I was unable to get myself up and the grandchildren were not able to get me up either. Along came AMELIA CASEY.

She was able to get me to her car and she insisted on taking me and the children to the Granby Medical Center. She stayed there until my wife was able to get there from Grand Lake. I was fortunate as my injury turned out to be a dislocated digit but the swelling and pain made it feel a lot worse. In any case my heartfelt gratitude to Amelia for her generous time to help me.
