Letter: Sunderland, Andy Miller for Grand County Commissioner
Andy Miller for Grand County Commissioner
Andy Miller is the visionary who brought us the very successful Broome Hut. It took years of determined effort to obtain the Forest Service approvals, motivate community support and fundraise. Then not only did he manage the construction, but helped energize an army of volunteers. And Grand County’s next eco-friendly Hut is already in development, no longer a crazy idea or a bridge too far. Another of Andy’s dreams is the creation of a technical school where practical job skills can be learned. Currently, young people must leave the community to continue almost any kind of education or career development. We met Andy while hiking on the Fraser to Granby Trail. He was volunteering on improvements to the trail. Shortly thereafter he became our contractor for the several phases of the remodel to our 70s era log home. Somehow we survived and our friendship grew. We continue to admire Andy’s dedication, honesty, persistence and quiet leadership. And yes, we were recruited to help with Broome Hut.
