Letter: Vote no on Fraser Annexation
I am amazed at the number of people I talk to who are totally against all of the bills that propose a tax increase, but yet they are in favor of Referendums 300 and 301.
The town of Fraser is proposing to waive millions of dollars in their annexation agreement with Byers Peak Properties for water tap fees. On the other hand, the town is saying we, the voters, need to approve a new mil levy and be prepared to see an increase in water rates because money is needed for water line repairs and improvements. A quick look at the water fund reserves show that Fraser is going to need money now and in the near future for repairs because there is not much money in the water account.
My questions are: Why would the town trustees be so eager to give Byers Peak Properties such a huge money break that traditionally should be paid by the developer? And: Why would we, the voters, want give the Town permission to give that money break?
Please vote no on Referendums 300 and 301.
