Letter: Vote yes to sustain libraries
To the Editor:
When I made Grand County my home over 25 years ago, I quickly discovered and appreciated the culture of community support that thrives here. I voted in favor of the formation of the Grand County Library District (GCLD) 19 years ago, and have watched with pride as the district nurtured centers of information, communication, education, entertainment and connection for all residents and visitors, no matter their economic or social status.
Serving as a trustee on the Library District Board the past 3 years, I have witnessed first hand the extreme level of fiscal responsibility practiced by the GCLD and know that the district will continue to be exceptional stewards of our tax revenues as they operate libraries to serve all.
Our libraries are anchors within the communities of Fraser, Grand Lake, Granby, Kremmling and Hot Sulphur Springs, and are a part of what makes living in Grand County so desirable. I want to continue to live in a place that places a priority on all the values that libraries represent.
I urge you to vote yes on 1A to sustain our libraries. This mill levy will allow our libraries to continue provide services and open hours at the current levels. If you are not yet registered to vote, you can do so at the county clerk’s office in Hot Sulphur Springs, up to and including Election Day (Nov. 5).
