Letter: Who benefits from Winter Park bus system?
To the Editor:
I see that Intrawest figured out how to unload the current shuttle bus system to the town(s).
I know that the town(s) are rolling in taxpayer money (ha-ha!). Intrawest, which is now and forever the biggest user of the bus system, has figured out how to dump the cost off onto the taxpayers and improve their corporate bottom line all at once, and avoid the necessity of an election for now. Good for them, Bad for us.
Just how big a bus system will Intrawest (and those in favor of tax- funded buses) be demanding? Will you all be satisfied with the current system, or are we going to have to fund a rock star type transit system? Are you ready for a Public Employee Transit Union?
It is also my hunch that if you all decide on the mega bus system, that the folks at the current bus barn will be left out in the cold.
I guess you are going to get what you want. Let’s hope you want what you get!
No matter what comes around, please do not count on my support. This is going to cost through the nose, and property owners will bear the brunt of it, with little benefit.
