Letter: Who I’m voting for and why

Who I’m voting for and why

Here are my candidate choices (so far) for the upcoming (June 26) Democratic Primary election, with my reasons for voting for them. I hope others will share their Primary election candidate choices, and reasons, too! Primary Election Ballots will be mailed out from our County Clerk (Hot Sulphur Springs) starting June 5, so please think about candidates, soon!

Independents can vote this time, by choosing a party (Democratic or Republican) for at least a day, and filling out either a Democratic or Republican ballot, both of which they (Independents) will get in the mail.

For Colorado Governor: I’m voting for Jared Polis. Jared is not perfect (who is?), but Jared Polis did call me back, and he listened to my opinions about issues. Jared’s biggest competitor, Cary Kennedy, never would call me back, and she takes money from oil and gas interests. Jared Polis is not for fracking, but Cary seems to be for fracking.

For replacing Jared Polis, as U.S. Congressman for Colorado’s Congressional District No. 2 (includes Grand County, Boulder, etc.): I’m voting for Mark Williams. Mark will not take PAC (Political Action Committee) money, while at least one of his opponents, Joe Neguse, does take PAC money, from oil and gas interests. Mark Williams is anti-war, and he experienced war, when he was an Air Force Fighter Pilot, back in the first Gulf War. Mark came and spoke at Granby’s Middle Park High School seniors’ candidate forum, on Thurs., May 3. Mark is endorsed by Bernie Sanders. Mark Williams’ campaign phone is 303-552-6028. Mark will call you back, and he listens to what you say!

For Colorado Attorney General, I’m voting for Joe Salazar. Joe says he “can’t be bullied”, and “can’t be bought”. Joe doesn’t take PAC money. Joe stands up for poor people who are being taken advantage of, by rich corporations. Joe is not related to Ken (Salazar). Joe is endorsed by Bernie Sanders. Joe sent a surrogate to the Middle Park High School candidate forum in Granby.

For Colorado State Treasurer, I’m voting for Bernard Douthit. Bernard is an experienced “finance guy” for this “finance job”, and Bernard came to, and spoke at, the Middle Park High School seniors’ candidate forum! Bernard Douthit voted for Bernie Sanders. Call Bernard Douthit at 720-635-3403. He too, will call you back, and he listens to what you have to say!

For Colorado Secretary of State, I’m voting for Jena Griswold. I liked both Jena Griswold and her opponent Phillip Villard, but Jena Griswold seems more experienced, stronger, and more able to see through crooked corporations, and this would help her to effectively protect us citizens of Colorado, and to prevent fraud being done to us. Call Jena Griswold at 720-739-1274. Jena will call you back, and she listens to what you say.
