Library corner: Babies, books and bags

Grand County Library District

With funding provided by the Bessie Minor Swift Foundation on behalf of Sky-Hi News and with the support of Friends of the Grand County Library Inc., the Grand County Library District is launching Babies, Books, and Bags. This collaborative program will ensure that new moms receive information on the importance of reading to babies.

New moms, or moms-to-be, may receive an invitation to sign up for a library card from a Grand County agency or their medical provider. Once it is activated — brought to a GCLD library — the family will receive a book bag that includes a book and a hooded reading blanket.

If you are — or if you know — a new mom or mom-to-be, please be looking for an invitation for Babies, Books, and Bags. The invitations might come from a medical provider, an agency in town, a visiting nurse, etc. If you do not receive an invitation and you are a new mom, please stop in to your local library and tell them you are interested in Babies, Books, and Bags. The library staff will be looking forward to getting to know you and welcome you to the library.
