Library Corner: District welcomes familiar face
GCLD Executive Director
Living in Grand County, we recognize a lot of faces. Is it someone you passed in the aisle in City Market? Were they across the table from you at the Scandinavian craft workshop at the library? Do you both leave at the same time to head to work, passing each other going through the canyon?
The Grand County Library District has a new face for you to recognize. She works behind the scenes to support our library staff, but you might see her in the branches, spreading the word about our library services and collections during an outreach event, or perhaps on the sidelines of a program GCLD is hosting.
Grand County Library District welcomes Jessi Burns, our new director of public services.
Jessi isn’t a new face in the community. She’s been splitting her time between Grand County and Jefferson County over the past four years and has been hoping to make the jump to Grand County full time once the right position became available, one that put her skills and experience to use.
With a background in marketing and journalism, Jessi rounds out the Administration Team for GCLD.
“I am thrilled to join the Grand County Library District team,” Jessi said. “To have the chance to serve the community in such a beautiful place is an amazing opportunity. I look forward to using my skills in marketing and communications to connect the residents of Grand County to the boundless opportunities the libraries here have to offer.”
Prior to GCLD, Jessi’s most recent experience was working for Jeffco Open Space. Overseeing communications and public relations, as well as internal communication systems within the county, allowed Jessi to mix work and play in the outdoors, an important quality of life many of us consider when choosing to live in Grand County. Prior to that, you might have seen Jessi on Denver TV stations, as she frequently appeared with adoptable pets as Foothills Animal Shelter’s primary spokesperson.
Through Jessi’s work with Grand County Library District, our hope is not only to have Jessi be a voice and support for the branches but to engage Grand County residents and guests with the understanding of how Grand County Library District benefits people’s lives.
