Library, tech intern, win-win situation
Lisa Hobbs, a senior at Middle Park High School, has advanced her technology skills during her internship with the Grand County Library District. Her internship started last summer and has continued during the school year.
Library services rely heavily on the world of technology and having Lisa assist with behind-the-scenes technology projects was a win-win situation for both Lisa and the library district.
Lisa impressed her supervisor, Director of Technology, Shelly Kilgas, with her seemingly innate grasp of technological concepts and her remarkable instincts for navigating virtually any software application needed to complete a project.
Grand County Library District appreciates and values the work-study program offered by Middle Park High School which allows Lisa to participate in the technology internship and deepen her knowledge of networks, data storage, and website development as well as the comprehensive services offered by public libraries.
Meanwhile, the library district has benefited by having Lisa tackle projects such as developing the website for the library foundation (www.gclfoundation.org), installing network-attached storage devices at each of the six library district locations, and helping with the day-to-day technology needs of the library district.
With Lisa’s exceptional technology skills, her diligent work ethic, and professional attitude she will undoubtedly make significant contributions to the field of technology and maybe even libraries during her future career.
