Lt. Governor Joe Garcia to visit Granby Library on Sept. 30

Staff Report

Lt. Governor Joe Garcia leads a week-long tour across the state to build excitement for reading during Colorado Literacy week. The goal of the program is to encourage families to make books part of their summer activities to help keep children at grade level when school begins each fall.

Colorado Literacy week is a joint effort between SERVE Colorado, Colorado State Libraries, Colorado Department of Education, Colorado Department of Human Services and state and community partners.

From 1:30 – 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, Garcia will be the guest of Grand Beginnings and the Grand County Library District at the Granby Library. Early Care and Education in Grand County and the libraries’ literacy programs for early childhood will be showcased. Also, the children of the Granby PlayDays PreSchool will present Lt. Governor Garcia with a book they’ve created and a GCLD library card.

The public is welcome.
