Lynn Burrows named Colo. PE Teacher of the Year

The Colorado Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance has selected Lynn Burrows, physical education teacher at Fraser Valley Elementary School, as the 2014 Colorado Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

The award recognizes educators who have demonstrated continuous dedication to the advocacy and enhancement of student learning in physical education in Colorado.

This summer Burrows worked with NWBOCES (a cooperative service agency serving seven school districts in northwest Colorado), designing assessments for PE teachers across the nation. She also worked with the Colorado Department of Education designing units of instruction for Colorado PE teachers.

“I am very honored and humbled to receive this award. I give credit for much of what I do to being in a great school with outstanding students,” Burrows commented.

“Mrs. Burrows’ passion, leadership, creativity and expertise in teaching physical education are a huge asset to our students, our school, our district and our community,” said William Chamberlin, Ph.D, FVE Principal.

Lynn Burrow’s accomplishment will be celebrated at the yearly association’s conference in Westminster on Oct. 17.
