Man found with 40 grams of meth pleads guilty to possession, intent to distribute

HOT SULPHUR SPRINGS — Matthew Etten pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of possession with intent to manufacture or distribute methamphetamine, a class 2 Drug Felony.

Grand County District Court Judge Mary Hoak set April 11 at 1:30 p.m. for his sentencing, according to the court.

Etten plead guilty to the highest charge without any sentencing concessions from the prosecution. He faces a maximum of eight years in the department of corrections.

On Aug. 27, 2018, Etten was observed in the parking lot of the City Market gas station in Granby passed out in his vehicle nude. He was found to be in possession of large amounts of drug paraphernalia, drug kits, tools of drug distribution, over 40 grams of methamphetamine.

The investigation was conducted by the Granby Police Department with assistance from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kathryn L. Dowdell.

“Methamphetamine and other drugs present a real danger to Grand County,” said Grand County District Attorney Brett Barkey in a statement. “We will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute those who want to profit from bringing such hazards to our community.”
