Man rescued after icy plunge into Shadow Mountain Reservoir

Sky-Hi News staff report
Grand Lake, CO Colorado

A canoe on Shadow Mountain reservoir capsized early Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, sending a duck hunter into the freezing water.

Hunter Andy Chasin, 44, of Winter Park, was able to hold onto his canoe until he was rescued. A resident in a shoreline home heard the man and called 911, according to Grand County Undersheriff Jim Campbell.

Two Grand Lake firefighters responded to Chasin by boat, transported him to shore and to the waiting Grand County EMS ambulance, Campbell said. He was taken to Middle Park Medical Center for treatment of hypothermia.
