Medical Students Need Host Homes in Winter Park

The Western Colorado Area Health Education Center is recruiting hosts homes to provide temporary, short-term accommodations (4-6 weeks) to Colorado Medical Students attending rural clinical rotations in and around Winter Park.

Host Homes provide a safe, smoke free environment, a private bedroom with locking door, access to a bathroom (private or shared), and access to laundry and kitchen facilities.

In addition to the satisfaction of helping a student connect with the community, host homes receive $10 per night to help defray expenses. Additional information about the Host Home Program is available at

To become a Host Home to a future health care professional call Nicole Heil, Student Support Services coordinator, at Western Colorado AHEC, 970-434-5474 extension 3 or email

Western Colorado AHEC

WCAHEC, On behalf of the University of Colorado, Rocky Vista University, and Red Rocks Community College, coordinates host home placements and service learning opportunities for medical students from many disciplines (medicine, nursing, dentistry, physical therapy, pharmacy and psychology) who are scheduled to attend a rural clinical rotation in one of Colorado’s 13 western and northwestern counties. Rural clinical rotations give the students an opportunity to interact with their future patient population and to observe and learn one-on-one, from medical professionals in rural hospitals and clinics where they experience health care in a real-world setting, far removed from their health science centers.
