Middle Park Health confirms opening of new clinic in Grand Lake
Middle Park Health will soon be opening a new health clinic in Grand Lake, a long-awaited addition for many local residents.
Earlier this week, officials from Middle Park Health confirmed that the planned clinic will officially be called Middle Park Health-Grand Lake Campus.
The goal is to have the new campus open by June 1, according to Tiffany Freitag, spokesperson for Middle Park Health. The clinic will be located inside the Grand Lake Community Center, formally the Grand Lake Elementary School.
The clinic itself will be located in the front portion of the building in the area that is currently the Grand Lake Center’s front desk informational area. Middle Park Health is planning for minimal construction in the space in order to make the current space a more suitable clinic space, according to Freitag.
While residents of the Grand Lake community have talked repeatedly about creating a health clinic in the community, which does not currently have any non-emergent primary health care services, the decision to move forward with the clinic’s creation involved multiple factors. The clinic became a soon-to-be reality after roughly one year of ongoing discussions between Middle Park Health and the town of Grand Lake, which owns the Grand Lake Center.
“First, we did a review of our current patient population,” Freitag explained. “We have a fair amount of patients currently traveling form Grand Lake to receive medical care at one of our other clinic locations. Second, the residents and visitors of Grand Lake currently have no option but to travel for medical care.”
Freitag further noted that Middle Park Health believes the resident and visitor population of Grand Lake will continue to grow in the future and that Middle Park Health felt it was important to provide health care services to the community.
The clinic will offer services similar to those offered at the Middle Park Health-Winter Park Campus to include X-rays, laboratory work and primary care services.
The clinic’s employee roster will include two staff positions and health care providers. Freitag said Middle Park Health plans to dedicate those staff members to the Grand Lake campus, as opposed to rotating staff members from other clinics through Grand Lake.
“Our provider staffing plan is to have one physician and either one nurse practitioner or physician assistant at the Grand Lake campus,” Freitag stated. Dr. Mark Paulsen will be the primary physician practicing in the clinic.
