Middle Park High School Principal Scott Eldred resigned April 23, citing other job opportunities.

Eldred said he will finish his contract with the East Grand School District, which ends June 6, before beginning a new position as a K-5 principal with the Gilpin County School District.

“The [East Grand] community has been outstanding in supporting its staff students and administrators,” Eldred said.

Eldred, who has held administrative positions in Jefferson County Schools, Denver and Adams 50, joined the East Grand School District in June 2012.

An advertisement for the Middle Park High School principal position was posted to the East Grand County School District website on April 23. The district will accept applications until May 9. The position will begin on Aug. 1.

East Grand School District Superintendent Jody Mimmack said that an interview committee of teachers, parents and some students would evaluate applicants. The district will hold interviews the week of May 19, according to the posting.

The process began Tuesday with a dialogue with high school staff.

“Depending upon what the school staff wants we may do some community forums,” Mimmack said.

Those interested in applying for the position can do so at http://egsd.org/.
