Middle Park skiers head to state high school championships

Middle Park has qualified 10 alpine and 21 nordic skiers for the state high school ski championships, which begin on Thursday in Aspen.

On Thursday the alpine skiers will race giant slalom at Aspen Highlands, while the nordic skiers will ski an individual start classic race on the trails at Aspen High School.

On Friday the alpine competitors will race slalom at Aspen Highlands and the nordic racers will compete in a mass start skate race again on the trails at Aspen High School.

Middle Park is the two-time defending girls state champion.

State qualifiers


Girls: Kathryn Bowen, Marina Koepke, Natasha Stenicka, Sabina Ligas, Suzannah Mikol, Allison Freeman.

Boys: Zack Schult, Cody Charland, Patrick O’Connell (slalom only), Dominic Issacs (giant slalom only).


Girls: Samantha Berggren, Samantha Miyauchi, Seraphina Smith, Elly Zietz, Linnea Zink, Amelia Clancy, Kaylene Loo, Jenna Curran.

Boys: Taber Miyauchi, Nicholas O’Connor, Collin Papuga, Steve Simmons, Colby Zink, Simeon Anderson, Cole Conger, Duncan Dearduff, Isaac Elliott, Sam Elliott, Joe Rupp, Marcus Curran, AJ Sapien.
