GRAND LAKE — The Grand Lake Chamber of Commerce has named Samantha Miller as its new executive director. Miller formerly served as the chamber’s marketing tourism director, and has worked there since April.

“I am very excited to have the new position,” she said. “I’m thrilled. There’s so much going on in this town, and so much we can do with it.”

Miller fills the position after the previous executive director, Kacey Beres, resigned in early November. Miller said her primary goal for the coming year is to help build a sustainable, year-round economy for the town.

“We want to increase visitor traffic in our summer and winter seasons, shrinking the shoulder season,” she said.

Miller looks to accomplish the goal through effective and meaningful marketing and by building more partnerships and memberships.

For the time-being, the chamber board has absolved Miller’s former marketing tourism position. Instead, they’ve created an interim visitor center coordinator job, filled by Tamara Petty. The visitor coordinator will help manage the visitor center, work with volunteers and assist Miller with her responsibilities.
