Kyger Mintken and Ryan Lane, both members of Boy Scout Troop #104 and residents of Granby and Tabernash, have earned the honor of Eagle Scout from the Western Colorado Council and Boy Scouts of America. Eagle Scout is the highest rank in scouting. Only 3 to 4 percent of Boy Scout members ever attain this prestigious honor.

Kyger Mintken, 16, of Middle Park High School and Ryan Lane, 16, also of Middle Park High School, achieved the 21 merit badges required to receive the Eagle Scout award. For Kyger’s Eagle Scout project, he constructed a prayer path at Lord of the Valley Lutheran Church and Ryan constructed bat habitat boxes for Pioneer Park in the town of Hot Sulphur Springs.

A Court of Honor ceremony honoring Kyger and Ryan will take place on Saturday, September 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Church of Eternal Hills with a celebration following for family, friends and the Scouting community.

In 2006, both Kyger and Ryan started out as Tiger Cubs. Over the years Kyger and Ryan achieved all ranks in scouting, culminating in the Eagle Scout rank. They attended camps, provided community service, learned to tie every knot imaginable and so much more. Kyger and Ryan are especially grateful to their dads, who volunteered as leaders and supported them throughout their time as Boy Scouts.

Both Kyger and Ryan would also like to thank their leaders, mentors, friends and families for helping them attain their goal. Thanks also goes to the Church of the Eternal Hills for hosting scout meetings, the Grand Foundation for equipment grants and the Fraser Valley Lions Club for sponsoring the troop.

Kyger and Ryan look forward to continuing with Scouts and will proudly honor the Scout Law by being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
