Mountain Family Center offers free cooking class for kids

A FREE Cooking Matters Class sponsored by Mountain Family Center, will be offered to children ages 8-12 at St. John’s Episcopal Church (390 E. Garnet Ave., Granby).

Class dates are July 23, 26, and 30, and Aug. 2, 6 and 13 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Participating children will learn to create healthy snacks and meals that taste great and are fun to make. The class will learn to plan a balanced meal and discover what food labels really mean. A tour of City Market is also scheduled.

Along with enjoying the meal they prepare at each class free groceries are provided to take home for children to share their new-found skills with their family. Those attending four out of the six classes will receive a FREE age-appropriate cookbook with more delicious easy-to-create meal and snack options.

The curriculum is targeted toward children but parents are encouraged to observe the class.
