Mountain Family Center Welcomes New Health Advocate
July 5, 2009
Cathy Higley has been Mountain Family Center’s Health Advocate for the last year and a half. The program has been developed to help low-middle income families with finding resources to meet their health needs and to offer free nutrition classes through Operation Frontline.
Higley’s husband has accepted a promotion with the U.S. Forest Service and she will be moving to Wisconsin with her family this month.
“I sincerely loved my work,” Higley said. “Helping folks connect their needs with available resources was very gratifying. I have been touched by the strength that many of our clients possess, and they have truly been an inspiration.”
Mountain Family Center has just hired a new Health Advocate, Lindsey Watson. Watson has a background in community nutrition. She speaks Spanish, is an outdoor enthusiast and is eager to work with the Grand County Community.
“Filling Cathy’s shoes will be a tough act to follow, but I’m up to the challenge,” Watson said. “I am excited for the new opportunity and am dedicated to providing the best resources to my fellow community members.”
Mountain Family Center is a community, nonprofit organization working to improve the quality of life in Grand County by providing services, information and education that promote self-sufficiency.
