Mountain Parks Electric issues $2,500 Renewable Energy Rebate
Granby – At its June meeting, the Mountain Parks Electric Green Power Board of Directors issued its first $2,500 rebate to James Pinkard for his 8.5-kilowatt photovoltaic system installed in the Grand Lake area.
“Mountain Parks Electric is pleased to support the local economy by spurring renewable energy development through the Green Power Program,” General Manager Joe Pandy said. “We hope this rebate will be the first of many.”
The rebates are awarded by a three-person, volunteer board of MPEI customers that evaluates local renewable energy projects (anywhere within Mountain Parks Electric’s service territory) and awards refunds – up to $2,500 for individuals and $10,000 for businesses and organizations – to help offset installation costs. The board, which meets quarterly, consists of Alexander Buhayar, Liz McIntyre and Barbara Vazquez.
To date, nearly 800 MPEI customers – about 5 percent – support the Green Power Program by contributing as little as $0.50 extra a month on their electric bills to support the local development of renewable energy. The program also includes a number of corporate sponsors.
