According to local law enforcement, three vehicles were involved in the wreck near milepost 221, west of Tabernash, near the entrance to Winter Park Highlands, that happened at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Lt. Dan Mayer, spokesman for the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, said US 40 was closed between Grand County Road 5 on the west end and Grand County Road 515 on the east end. Authorities later diverted traffic down Grand County Road 5221, further east of CR 515.

Mayer estimated the closure of US 40 would last at least two hours.
