Naked Aspen Design opens new doors
Fraser. CO Colorado
Naked Aspen Design, a 10-year-old custom furniture business in Fraser, has moved to a new storefront in the Alco Center.
Owner Rob Peeters will celebrate his grand opening this weekend.
Peeters said the new location will give his business more visibility and hopefully encourage more walk-in traffic. The larger space has also given Peeters the opportunity to add merchandise from other local craftsmen, such as lighting and metal decor.
Several independent contractors, including a woman who specializes in window coverings and another who does upholstery are offering services out of the new space, making the store into more of a design center, Peeters said.
Peeters got his start in the custom furniture business while working for a local contractor on his personal lot clearing a stand of aspen trees. He used the logs he harvested to make a desk for himself and then a bookshelf. The smooth white wood of the green aspen trees lent the name of the business … “and I knew everybody would remember the word ‘naked.'”
The new shop is located next to Totally Wired Cyclery. In addition offering to custom pieces such as entertainment centers and shelving, the shop is stocked with coats hooks, wine racks, small shelving, tables, chairs, stools and a bedroom set.
All the pieces are made from locally-harvested and reclaimed materials.
