The National Park Service has announced five entrance fee free days for 2020. All national parks will waive entrance fees on the following dates next year on days of celebration or commemoration:

  • Jan. 20 — Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • April 18 — First day of National Park Week and National Junior Ranger Day
  • Aug. 25 — National Park Service Birthday
  • Sept. 26 — National Public Lands Day
  • Nov. 11 — Veterans Day

The only remaining fee-free day this year is Veterans Day on Monday. The National Park Service has honored Veterans Day as a fee free day since 2006.

Of the 419 National Park Service sites, 110 charge entrance fees — including Rocky Mountain National Park.

“Across the country, more than 400 national parks preserve significant natural and cultural areas, each one an important piece of our national identity and heritage,” National Park Service Deputy Director David Vela said in the release. “Free entrance days serve as additional motivation for people to get outside and enjoy these places of inspiration and recreation.”

There are also free or discounted annual passes available for senior citizens, active duty members of the U.S. military, families of fourth grade students and disabled citizens.
