National Weather Service issues winter storm watch for areas in Grand County including Winter Park

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for areas in south and southeast Grand County above 9,000 feet in elevation including Winter Park. The storm watch is set to be in effect from “Sunday afternoon through late Monday night,” according to the advisory. The winter storm watch was issued on Saturday, Feb. 15.
The advisory states that heavy snow is possible in the specified regions, with accumulations from 8-16 inches and some localized areas receiving up to 2 feet of snow. Wind gusts could reach as high as 50 mph.
Snow- and ice-covered roads are expected to make travel hazardous, the advisory states, and travelers should allow extra time to reach their destinations.
A National Weather Service winter weather advisory is also set to remain in effect in Grand County until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15.
