New hair salon opens in Granby
December 20, 2011
A 1998 Middle Park High School alum opened a new hair salon in Granby.
Tiffany Coven, originally of Granby and now living in Kremmling, is owner of the new Cowlicks and Curls Beauty Saloon and says she hopes to “make people beautiful at a reasonable price, and get back and enjoy where I grew up.”
She is providing woman’s cuts, men’s cuts, razor cuts, children’s cuts, color highlights, facial waxing and extensions at her new salon located at the eastern side of the Mountain McGyver antiques store on the western end of Granby, near the Chuck Wagon restaurant. The “saloon” hair place officially opened Dec. 1.
Coven has been working in the hair business for 13 years, having studied at Cheeks International Academy of Beauty Culture, Greeley, out of high school. She has since worked at various hair salons, the latest of which was Cost Cutters in Dillon. She also owned the salon “To Die For” in Longmont.
Growing up, Coven never thought of hair as a career path, she said, until she realized “I did everybody else’s hair, so it just made sense when I graduated high school.”
The new salon will have an “old-school-barber-shop-with-a-new-attitude” atmosphere, but Coven said to not let the “barber shop” reference fool you. “All the salon services are available,” she said.
She also plans to carry various lines of hair care products in the future. And coloring products she uses at the salon are considered gentle, she said. “Color is my favorite thing.”
