New nature store, Earth Rocks, rolls into Winter Park
Winter Park, CO Colorado
Earth Rocks, a “Rock’n Nature Store,” is a new retail outlet specializing in nature toys for kids and educational games located in Cooper Creek Square, Winter Park.
Cheryl Key is managing the new store, which is open seven days a week Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The store has three areas. The garden and nature area features wind chimes, blown glass gazing balls, walking sticks, and nature pictures.
The kids area is where youngsters can purchase bags of sand with mystery stones, pan the contents through a sluice box and discover authentic stones. There are miner hats, educational games, toys, books, and bags of rocks.
And the main area has various nature items and scientific games.
Key hosts birthday parties and events at the store.
“Instead of families going to Denver for parties, we hope to host various groups of kids for birthday parties and events,” she said.
One party she hosted was for a local Brownie groups and she set up tables and the girls made crafts and learned about birthstones.
Key has lived in the county for 17 years. Her business partners are Cindy Lavoie and Justine Brewer, who also own the Southwick Zoo in Mendon, Mass.
