Tabernash — Church of the Eternal Hills announces the arrival of their new pastor, the Reverend Paula Daniel Steinbacher.

“Pastor Paula,” as the parishioners have already begun calling her, received her master’s of divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Okla., and has spent the past 10 years of her ministry at churches in Kansas and Oklahoma.

She began work on July 1, and has already taken in some of Grand County’s summer offerings.

“What a perfect weekend to begin work in this mountain community,” Paula said, “Already I have been to the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre’s production of “Les Miserables,” have enjoyed the Granby parade on the Fourth and investigated Rocky Mountain National Park.”

Paula can usually be seen around town with her 2-year-old Boston Terrier, Olive. Pastor Paula is married to her best friend, James. They have two children: Addie, who lives in Washington, D.C., and works as the social media manager for a clothing boutique; and Stephen, who will be entering his senior year of high school in Winfield, Kan.

When asked what attracted her to Church of the Eternal Hills, Steinbacher says that CEH is a beautiful building in a beautiful setting, but the warm, welcoming spirit of the congregation and their motto, “A Community of Christian Disciples with Open Minds, Hearts and Arms,” is what really won her over.

“The Presbyterian Church (USA) has a wonderful theology of love and grace, and offers welcome and care to all of God’s children. I’m excited to serve a congregation who genuinely sees their identity as being ready to welcome all people.” It is her hope that the church can become known in the community as a church with truly open hearts.

Steinbacher was also thrilled to find the church serves the community through hosting many community events, elections, and a food bank.

“I’m ready to get busy and find out all the great things we can do to shine the light of Christ in Grand County. It will be wonderful meeting the other clergy and community leaders and join efforts to shine even brighter.”

Church of the Eternal Hills is located in Tabernash. They have two worship services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday. The church is beginning two new programs — one for children, another for youth — during the week, plus continuing adult Bible studies. For information call the church office at 970-887-3603.
