New salon opens in Kremmling
Sheila Peterson and her husband moved from Idaho to Kremmling last summer when he landed a construction job in Steamboat Springs. While he was busy commuting, she was working part-time looking for other jobs, which were scarce.
“My husband said, ‘Why don’t we open a business?'”
And so, Painted Horse Salon was born.
Trained at a Meridian, Idaho, cosmetology school, Peterman offers a full range of services, including hair cuts permanents and other chemical services, waxing, manicures, pedicures and tanning.
Walk-ins are welcome, she said, and she will schedule evening and Sunday appointments.
“I want men to know they’re welcome here” too, she said, adding that she also cuts children’s hair.
What do she and her husband like about Kremmling?
“Everything. The people … It doesn’t get so hot (like Idaho).”
Peterman’s salon features Redken products and an extensive variety of equipment. She said for the time-being she will continue to operate the shop by herself, though there are extra chairs if she ever needs to expand.
