Newspaper should print only signed letters
August 29, 2008
To the Editor:
From journalism school to retired Manifest columnist to reader of the Daily News, I have subscribed to the rule that anonymity is inappropriate, in fact unacceptable, in public publications.
If citizens wish to respond to opinions read in the newspaper, as seen in “Web comments of the day,” I appreciate the dialogue; however, I believe it is essential that this newspaper publish only letters from people who are not afraid to attach their names to their comments. Anonymity inspires contempt.
