Newspaper should stick to local news
March 27, 2009
To the Editor:
I believe that the local paper has lost its focus. Instead of highlighting local political or civic concerns, the paper now focuses too much on national politics.
For example, William Hamilton has a regular column entitled “Central View.” This is misleading at best. His summary biography fails to mention that he was the executive director of the Republican Party in Kansas. His column does not serve the interests or needs of Grand County residents.
Furthermore, replacing his column with a more centrist columnist or one that provides the Democratic Party’s viewpoint also doesn’t serve our residents needs. We need local information on Grand County that we can’t get anywhere else.
There are too many places where a person can get national news and opinion. Leave that to others. Focus the paper solely on Grand County and you’ll be doing us all a great service.
