No Grand Lake activity bus this yea
There will be no after-school activity bus available to students living in the Grand Lake area this year.
Last year, the Grand Lake Metropolitan Recreation District funded an activity bus to transport students home after sports and after-school programs in Granby. The cost to run the bus totaled $11,868. The service was offered in the wake of the closing of Grand Lake Elementary School.
For the 2012-13 school year, the Grand Lake Metropolitan Recreation District Board has decided not to continue the funding.
“We decided as a board to not run the bus this year,” said Don Summers, board president. “There wasn’t enough student activity to pay for something [like that]. It was costing us so much per student that it just wasn’t worth the cost.”
