Officials initially thought that people were caught in an avalanche that occurred Saturday, Dec. 14, near No Name Bench on Berthoud Pass. However, it was determined that nobody was trapped, according to the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office.

Grand County emergency responders assisted Clear Creek and the Alpine Rescue Team with the response, according to the sheriff’s office.

A field report posted to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center website by Brandon Goldstein writes that the avalanche appeared to be a soft-slab slide on the northeast aspect of No Name Peak. A skier triggered the avalanche, according to the report.
