Konnie Bonds and her husband Jeff Bonds are lucky to be unharmed following a rollover crash on US Highway 34 just south of the turn-off to Willow Creek Reservoir.

The crash occurred Wednesday, Sept. 24, at about 10:30 a.m. The couple was traveling south in a Chevy pickup truck hauling a Rockwood camper trailer. Konnie Bonds, who was driving the truck at the time of the accident, said the trailer began swaying as they rounded the curve south of Coffey Divide.

According to Konnie, both she and Jeff attempted to slow their descent by applying trailer brakes. At that time Konnie lost control of the truck. The truck and trailer rotated 180 degrees on its wheels while traveling across both lanes of the road with the front of the truck eventually pointing north. The vehicle rolled into the ditch on the side of the northbound lane, coming to rest on its passenger side.

Konnie and Jeff are residents of Peoria, Ariz., and spent the last four days at Stillwater Campground while vacationing in the area. They also volunteer at Rocky Mountain National Park and were headed back home to Peoria when the accident occurred.
