Advocates for a Violence-Free Community is a nonprofit, volunteer based agency whose mission is to end domestic and sexual violence in the Grand County community. To accomplish this mission, Advocates provides extensive victim support services, information, prevention, and community awareness education. Services include, but are not limited to: a 24 hour confidential crisis line, temporary safe housing at Sprout House Safe House, emergency support services, court advocacy, safety planning, support group, assistance in filing restraining orders, initial counseling for victims not covered by victim’s compensation, relocation assistance, referrals for long-term counseling, housing, and other necessary services. Advocates collaborates with law enforcement agencies to provide services and support to families and friends of victims of traumatic death. The agency also provides community education presentations, and formal violence prevention programs in the middle and high schools.
