Nonprofit spotlight: Fraser Valley Elementary Parent Advisory Committee

The Fraser Valley Elementary Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) was established in 2004. PAC is a volunteer organization whose 70-plus members are current parents of children at Fraser Valley Elementary (FVE). Members are encouraged to join at the beginning of each school year. The Board of Directors is elected by the members at the end of the school year. PAC meets on a monthly basis. The mission of the FVE PAC is to positively impact the education of all students at FVE by fostering an environment of collaboration between teachers, administrators and parents. Goals are set and achieved through a variety of annual fundraisers; in 2014 FVE PAC raised approximately $16,000.

The current goals of the FVE PAC are to:

Recognize and celebrate teachers and staff

Work with school to develop enrichment opportunities for students

Foster parent involvement through volunteerism and school events

Work with the school to identify and prioritize funding needs

Raise funds through events, fundraising sales, and donations to support additional funding needs

Identify outside funding sources and work with teachers/administration to submit grant applications

For more information about FVE PAC or to take part in the organization please contact Karissa Gagnon current president, at fvepac@gmail.com.
