Nonprofit Spotlight: Grand Angels

Grand Angels began in the mid-1990s operating a Grand Lake food bank. Today, they are a team of 100 percent volunteers, serving Grand County. Grand Angels has six existing programs serving neighbors in need — the Grand Lake food bank, a crisis hotline, the Grand Kids project, which provides school supplies, tutoring, counseling; camp/after school scholarships, one time rent and utility assistance partnering with Mountain Family Center, health & wellness needs through approved medications, domestic violence and addiction counseling – working hand in hand with Grand County Rural Health and Advocates and the Christmas JOY project partnering with Joyful Givers (the Granby and Winter Park-Fraser police departments) providing gifts to kids in need as well as a Secret Santa Shop partnering with Rotary of Grand Lake whereby the kids can “shop” for free for a gift for their parents. Grand Angels does not duplicate existing county resources – they supplement them in striving to provide a hand-up to those in need, not a hand-out.
