Northern Colorado drug suspects due in court

DENVER (AP) – Some of the people arrested in drug raids in northern Colorado are due to appear in federal court on Wednesday.

An indictment announced by local and federal authorities Tuesday charges 30 people with 139 counts, including conspiracy to distribute and possess methamphetamine and possession of sawed-off shotguns and other firearms.

Authorities say they have seized more than 7 pounds of methamphetamine, 21 firearms, cocaine, marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms. A total of 46 people have been charged since the beginning of the investigation over two years ago.

Investigators say the purity of the meth they found suggests the drugs were imported from Mexico. They wouldn’t say whether they thought northern Colorado was the final destination for the drugs.
