The big white chair in Grand Lake’s town square this summer was not just an oddity that attracted pedestrians who wanted their pictures taken. For those photo opportunities, it raised $2,100 on active weekends such as Memorial Day, Fourth of July weekend, and Buffalo Barbecue Days, and It recently raised $1,000 at the Steps to End All Cancer auction on Sept. 29, according to one keeper of the chair Judy Eberly. The money is being donated to the Grand County Rural Health Network for its cancer-related services. The chair created outreach for the Network’s efforts. “Since committee members stayed with the chair, we were able to personally talk to people both inside and outside our community,” Eberly said. “That personal connection was big, and there are so many personal cancer stories.”
