Nov. 22 pie bake benefits Grand County Libraries

Why worry about Thanksgiving dessert? Help yourself and the library by getting your pie(s) from the Hot Sulphur Springs Library’s annual Grand County Library Pie Sale. Pumpkin? Cherry? Apple? Dozens and dozens of home-baked pies in these and other mouth-watering flavors will be available for sale at the Grand County Administration Building on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

For longer than 10 years, the Pie Sale has been the sole dedicated fundraiser for the Hot Sulphur Springs library. “This is a truly community-based affair,” said Julie Horn, Hot Sulphur Springs Branch Librarian. “The sale is organized by volunteers, the pies are baked by community members, and this year City Market has generously provided all of the pie boxes.”

Last year, more than 100 pies were snatched up during the four-hour sale. A new addition this year will be pie by-the-slice.

Pies, priced at $10 each, will be available between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the staff break room at the county building.

Local bakers with a favorite pie recipe are invited to participate. Pie boxes are available at both the Hot Sulphur Springs and Granby Libraries. Baked pies may be dropped off at either library during library hours on Monday, Nov. 21, or at the county building from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
