The National Sports Center for the Disabled announced Tuesday, Feb. 5, that a 2-year old yellow lab, Cinnamon, will be the new staff dog.

Cinnamon is in training to become a full-time therapy dog.

Therapy dogs provide affection and comfort to people in hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, and hospices. She will make appearances at NSCD events and programs promoting the benefits of a therapy dog.

Cinnamon made her debut on Feb. 8 at NSCD’s Free Winter Ability Clinic at Ruby Hill Rail Yard.

Be sure to follow Cinnamon on NSCD’s Facebook at Twitter feeds.

“We are excited to have Cinnamon on board and are thrilled to have her as an ambassador for the NSCD,” said Becky Zimmermann, president and CEO of the NSCD. “We will be taking Cinnamon to most of our events, here in Denver and up in the high country. She will have the opportunity to interact with people who have all types of disabilities. This will also encourage others to see the benefits of therapy dogs.”
