NYC school reformer shares advice on grad rates
DENVER (AP) – One of the nation’s best-known school reformers is talking to businesses in Denver about boosting graduation rates.
Geoffrey Canada of the Harlem Children’s Zone in New York is talking to the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Tuesday about raising student achievement. Canada’s program in Harlem has been copied in other big cities and cited as a model for raising graduation rates.
The business group will also hear from Margaret Spellings, former U.S. Secretary of Education under President George W. Bush.
