Obit – Colleen (Cubby) Leahy
Cubby Leahy passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2010, at her home in Dexter, N.M..
Colleen Claire Bridget Leahy was born on Sept. 3, 1953, in Glens Falls, N.Y., a daughter of W. Allan and Elaine Grogan Leahy. She graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1971 and attended Alfred University before moving to Colorado in 1973. She lived there until 2005 when she and her husband of 31 years, George Pascal, relocated to New Mexico.
While in Winter Park, Cubby worked as a ski instructor for 17 years. During that time she was also employed in a variety of retail and property management positions. Her lifelong love of animals eventually led her to establish “Cubby’s Critters” a pet sitting and animal care business that served the Fraser Valley area. Most recently, in New Mexico, she was employed by Adobe Medical.
Cubby was beautiful, bright and an absolute blast to be with, but most of all, Cubby was funny. Those of us fortunate enough to have known her will forever keep her laughter in our hearts.
Cubby is survived by her husband, George; sister Allyn Pardi of Pittsford, N.Y.; sister Robyn (Ed) Shafer and brother Doug (Mary) Leahy, all of Whitesboro, N.Y.; father-in-law, George Pascal, Sr., Tmiculla, Calif.,; sister-in- law Laura (Russ) Brown, Oceanside, Calif.; nieces and nephews, Chris, Damon (Jennifer), Kevin, Dan, Melisa and Tamara; and great nephews Matt, Jonathan, Andrew, Nicholas and Aidan. She was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law, Dominick Pardi. Cubby will be greatly missed by many dear friends
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Cubby’s life that will take place on Thursday, June 24, 2010, in Winter Park. Donations in Cubby’s memory may be made to the Roswell Humane Society, 703. McGaffey St. Roswell, New Mexico, 88203
